Family Separation
The American Civil War tore thousands of families apart. The slogan Brother Against Brother, in history, describes the struggles of loyalties between the Union and Confederacy.
Not only did men have duties during the Civil War, women did also. More than four hundred women disguised themselves as men for their own reasons. Due to the deaths of the males in the house, the women had to dress as males in order to own property. Some women were spies, business owners and nurses.
